How to Reset Your Oil Life Indicator

How to Reset Your Oil Life Indicator

Noticing the maintenance light/Engine Oil Indicator on in your Honda Civic after just getting an oil change? You will need to reset your maintenance minder system.

Typically, the maintenance minder indicator is reset once your oil is changed. Here at Formula Honda, our Honda certified technicians will reset your oil status indicator as a part of your service appointment. We recommend a trained technician to reset this to ensure you’re viewing the most accurate results. If you changed your oil yourself, and still see the light, follow the steps below to manually reset the maintenance minder.

For 2016-2019 Honda Civic models, there are two methods to reset to oil life indicator:

For Models With Multi-Information Screen:

Step 1: Turn your Civic ignition on, but do not start the engine. If your vehicle is a push start, press the push start button twice without putting your foot on the brake pedal.
Step 2: Press the Info button on the steering wheel until the wrench icon appears on the screen.
Step 3: Press and hold the enter button to enter into reset mode.
Step 4: Use the up and down arrows, select “All Due Items,” and press enter.

For Models Without Multi-Information Screen:

Step 1: Turn your Civic ignition on without starting your engine or press the start button twice without touching the brake.
Step 2: Press the Trip knob repeatedly until the Engine Oil Life percentage displays.
Step 3: Press and hold the trip knob until the Engine Oil Life percentage starts to blink.
Step 4: Press the trip knob again until the oil life percentage resets.

Turn on your Honda Civic after completing these steps to verify the rest was successful.
