Brake Fluid Replacement

Brake Fluid Replacement

What is brake fluid? Brake fluid, also known as hydraulic fluid, is responsible for moving the various components of your Honda’s braking system and also prevents corrosion within this system. Brake fluid operates under high temperatures and extremely high pressure. Without it, your vehicle would not be able to stop when you push your brake pedal.

How long does brake fluid last? Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means that it absorbs moisture. It accumulates increasing amounts of water over time and as a result, its boiling point eventually decreases. The reduced boiling point of your brake fluid can eventually reach levels that will have a negative impact on your braking ability.

How is this corrected? Honda Canada recommends having your brake fluid removed and replaced with Honda-approved DOT3 brake fluid every 3 years. Performing a brake fluid replacement involves removing the existing brake fluid and moisture out of the braking system and replacing it with brand new, Honda-approved DOT3 brake fluid.

Is it time to schedule your brake fluid replacement? Our Honda-trained factory technicians know your vehicle best. Having this service performed will ensure safe brake system performance and increase the lifespan of your brake system components.
