City of Scarborough

Scarborough started as a township and was included in Metropolitan Toronto’s municipal government in 1953.

It became a borough in 1967 with the Township of Pickering divided, part joining West Rouge and part the Regional Municipality of Durham.

In 1998 the Municipality of Scarborough was dissolved, along with East York, Etobicoke, North York, York and the ‘old City of Toronto’, to form Toronto as it’s known today. 

Some of Toronto’s most popular attractions are actually located in Scarborough, like the Toronto Zoo and Scarborough Bluffs.

The Scarborough Town Centre is also a popular spot for shoppers.

Community Involvement

Formula Honda has been serving the community of Scarborough, and Toronto as a whole, for over 35 years.

Our success is a direct result of the community and that’s why we’ve always chosen to give back and support a range of local initiatives.

A lesser-known Scarborough charity we support is Parents Engaged in Education, which is similar to a food bank but based on education.

Instead of food, underprivileged families are donated school supplies, books and tutoring sessions.

Scarborough residents also know us as a frequent drop-off location for non-perishable foods and children’s toys during the holiday season.

We’ve donated to a number of different partners throughout the years, including CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish and CTV’s Toy Mountain, while also collecting food for the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto.

The team has also been involved with sponsoring and supporting: Metro Toronto Police Picnic, St Barnabas Parish, Brave T.O. Obstacle Courage Challenge and Ladies Night Out.

Recently we became one of the Title Sponsors for Tamil Fest, an annual gathering organized by the Canadian Tamil Congress that closed down Markham Road between McNicoll Avenue and Passmore Avenue for food, dancing and shopping.

Toronto has one of the highest Tamil-speaking communities outside of Asia, making up over 4% of the entire population of the city.

With the highest concentration of the Tamil community calling Rouge Valley home our team has had the pleasure of experiencing many aspects of Tamil culture.

That’s why we’re proud to have served as one of the Title Sponsors for Tamil Fest two years in a row.

With the support of the City of Toronto, the Canadian Tamil Congress closes down Markham Road between McNicoll Avenue and Passmore Avenue for an expose of cultural food, artistic talents and traditional activities.

With over 100 performers of traditional Tamil music and dancing, as well as dozens of food and drink vendors, it is always a great time for people of all ages.
