Formula Honda of Toronto’s staff loves to eat at many of the great restaurants in Toronto. One of our favorites is Mexican food and it happens to be a popular cuisine segment in Toronto. Tacos are the most dominant Mexican food trend in the city and there are a plenty of great places to choose from.

El Rey Mezcal Bar

On Kensington Avenue, El Rey opened last year and upped the bar for finer Mexican food. The bar menu and agave cocktails are the main events, while the good selection of shareable dishes and snack-sized plates offer a variety of options to choose from. Their market-focused menu changes every couple of weeks and the restaurant space doubles in size during warmer months, thanks to their large patio.

El Catrin

Known for one of the best people-watching perches in the city, El Catrin has housed many loyal customers in the Distillery Historic District since 2013. They claim to have Canada’s largest mezcal and tequila menu with around 120 labels to choose from. Three tacos cost about $15 or you can order a house special such as Banderillas de Cordero slow-braised lamb shoulder skewers.

Seven Lives

This taqueria is most famous for its fish tacos and slow-cooked pork carnitas. It caters to mostly takeout crowds and is constantly packed with customers. We recommend the Pulpo a la Mexican taco with grilled octopus piled high on two blue corn tortillas and hot habanero garlic sauce if you dare. Their fresh-squeezed lemonade is there to help you cool down from the hot sauce!

Our #FormulaHonda staff hopes that this list helps you find the perfect Mexican restaurant for you, your friends, or your familia.
