KBB.com names the 2017 Honda Pilot as one of the most recommendable vehicles in the industry. It earns the Midsize SUV Best Buy honor with a  roomy, value-packed, unexpectedly refined vehicle for two years running.

Practicality of the Honda Pilot

Apart from minivans, midsize SUVs don’t offer a great deal of rear cargo room when all three row seats are being used, but the Pilot manages to make up for it. The cargo area also includes a handy underfloor cubby that can be used for more important items. The removable floor panel is stored at the bottom of the bin when it’s not being used. Folding down all rows of seats transforms the PIlot’s rear quarters into a spacious storage bay that can prove to be very useful.

For carrying passengers, the Honda PIlot’s third-row seat is the best in its class. While many 3-row SUVs can fit only two occupants in the third row, the Pilot offers space for three, bringing the maximum seating capacity to eight. It’s important to note that this third-row seating can fit average sized adults as well, not just children. The 2017 Pilot’s sliding and reclining second row can easily fit anyone, with accommodations such as climate controls, USB ports, DC power ports, manual window shades and a built-in video entertainment system.

Premium Performance

The Pilot’s interior is a example of how mainstream vehicles are including luxurious levels of refinement. There are soft-touch surfaces in the right places, consistent interior panel gaps and supportive front seats wrapped in soft leather (on specific models). Also included is a cabin that suppresses road and wind noise, cornering performance, ride quality and acceleration that perform well above its class.

Safety

The insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2017 Honda Pilot with a Top Safety Pick+ for its safety features. The Honda offers a wide array of tools to keep you and your passengers safe at all times. The Honda Sensing suite of active safety systems is standard on Touring and Elite models and available on the EX and EX-L models for an extra $1,000. It includes automatic collision warning and braking, lane departure warning and assist, adaptive cruise control and road departure prevention. That’s not even including the multi-angle rear camera and Honda’s right-side-view camera system dubbed Lane Watch.
