Looking For Poutine In Toronto? We’ve Got You CoveredJan 31th, 2017
One of the most iconic dishes to come out of Canada is Poutine. It gets hard to resist french fries with cheese curds and gravy on top, especially when the city of Toronto has multiple spots to order it to perfection. Our #FormulaHondaFamily always has room for poutine and we are going to recommend a few places for you to try in this article.
Fancy Franks’ signature ‘Fancy Schmancy’ is stuffed with some mouth watering goodies such as Korean beef ribs, grilled onions, squeaky curds, gravy scallions and a fried egg. This is an absolute go-to dish that blends all of the flavors together so well that you’ll have to slow yourself down eating it.
Located on Dundas St. West, south of Kensington Market, this restaurant brings the flavor of Montreal to Toronto. It offers crepes and their popular poutine, ‘The Lumberjack’ consists of caramelized onions, sauteed onions and crispy onions, gravy and squeaky cheese curds.
Leslieville is truly unique as it combines a gas station, convenience store and restaurant together as one. It’s open 24 hours and maintains its vintage charm in a great manner. Potatoes used in the poutine are aged between 8 to 17 weeks to strike that perfect balance of starch and water content. Then they’re double blanched, flash fried and tossed with The Pumps’ house-made herb salt mix. They pride themselves with rich, dark gravy made with beef jus from their smoker that runs 24/7. To top it off, the cheese curds come in both white mozzarella and orange cheddar.
Just off of King St. W., Beast Restaurant gives a more restaurant feel than others. It can hold 30 inside and a dozen on its patio. With a minimalistic design, the focus stays on the food, which is excellent. The poutine and garnishes at Beast change almost daily and still continues to be one of the most popular items on the menu. The standard poutine is not made with fries, but instead French-style potato gnocchi. The meat switches constantly and ranges from moose, boar, rabbit, sturgeon, duck and even octopus. This is not your traditional poutine restaurant.
