2016 Honda CRV vs. 2016 Nissan Rogue

It’s hard to choose between the 2016 Honda CR-V and the 2016 Nissan Rogue, because in many aspects they’re very similar. Neither of them is especially high-performance, but that’s not the point. Instead, both vehicles are aiming for the family vehicle niche, offering lots of space, lots of comfort, and impressive fuel economy for their size.

Both of them fill this niche very well — it’s impossible to judge between them based on their stuff-hauling ability, because their spacious interior dimensions are almost identical. The same goes for their fuel economy. Both the 2016 CR-V and the 2016 Rogue are very efficient for their size.

Both vehicles offer a few nifty features to make your life easier. The Honda CR-V’s rear seats fold themselves completely flat with just one single-handed pull of one strap, so they’re easy to stow quickly when you’re on the go. The Nissan Rogue’s standard setup includes reconfigurable panels behind the rear seats for creating adaptable storage boxes and bins. Uniquely, though, this can be swapped out for an extra third-row seat in some models. It’ll be a bit cramped for an adult, but great for a large family.

As far as safety, both vehicles come with standard curtain airbags, stability control, and a rear-view backup camera. Both offer available blind spot monitors, lane departure warnings, and lane-keeping assist. However, some of these are only available for the more expensive CR-V Touring trim, while the Nissan Rogue gets them at the mid-level SV. The 2016 Nissan Rogue also has a 360-degree Around View camera available.

So, at the basic level, these are both very good, solid choices for your next family vehicle. Both have some unique conveniences. The Nissan Rogue could save you some money, depending on which features are important to you, but the 2016 Honda CR-V has plenty to recommend it as well.
