Both the 2016 Honda Civic and the 2016 Mazda3 have got style, drivability, safety, fuel economy, and an impressive lineup of features. With the brand-new 2016 Honda Civic sporting a striking design upgrade, and a higher-performance turbo engine that makes the higher-end models way more fun to drive.

Both vehicles get excellent fuel economy, but the Mazda3 comes out slightly ahead. Plus, the Mazda3 Grand Touring tech package adds a regenerative engine braking system that can boost that figure even more. As for performance and drivability, test drivers say both the Mazda3 and the Honda Civic are agile, responsive, and satisfying. With the 2016 Honda Civic, the 1.5L turbo-4 engine gives higher-end models a large boost in power over the base model, whereas there’s less of a noticeable difference between the Mazda3’s two options — both are top-notch.
Both the Honda and the Mazda have made rear-view backup cameras a standard feature in 2016. The 2016 Civic has expanded the availability of the Honda Sensing safety suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warnings, and forward collision warnings with automatic brake assist.
